Short Gaia Parody

"Eh"

submission: Short Gaia Parody

The intro was too long and there was absolutely no emotion in that "NOOOOOOOO!!!!". It was more of a "nooooooo...?" The basic idea was funny but the execution's kinda weak. Good graphics, though.

"A series of random complaints"

date: February 12, 2005

Cutting off in what seemed like the middle of the song seemed a bit odd, and if you're not going to put anything at the end of a music video then it's a good idea to loop the thing. Also, all of the "WTF!!!1" messages kinda hurt the video. To me they were screaming "Look at how WACKY I'm being! Isn't it just AWESOME!!!" The wackyness would've worked better without you flaunting it like that. It also could've used more random chaos in the backgrounds, some of the scenes felt pretty sparse. Okay, but needs more work.

Wow. An actual stick figure DBZ movie, yet it isn't half bad. The music was too loud though, and it made understanding the voices nearly impossible. It didn't even fit in with the video, it was just kinda there. Other than that though, everything was at least decent.

8-BitchFyveIsABitch

"Um"

date: February 10, 2005

The point of 8-BitchFyve wasn't that sprite movies are bad, it's that the unoriginality, blatant stealing, and lack of effort that often coincides with the use of sprites is bad, which makes the fact that you made a 8-BitchFyve movie with (extremely good) recreations of the movie's graphics rather ironic. This is a good effort, but whether you meant it or not this movie's exactly what 8-BitchFyve stood against. You obviously have the talent, if you make something with your own humor and characters it could do very well; heck, even this thing had a 4.04 when I voted on it.

Better luck next time, man.

Great and plentiful music, with a well designed interface, experience points, and shiny graphics. It's a lot harder than the DDR-style flashes on Newgrounds; heck, even at just 30% the songs are a serious challenge for me. Ah well, I like it anyway.

The Fall of Sigma Ep. 1

"Not bad"

date: February 8, 2005

This isn't exactly the most original thing on Newgrounds but what's here has potential; the actiony parts you've promised in the next two episodes could turn out pretty good. You've done an okay job with the sprites and music, but there's a somewhat annoying problem in the intro; the text doesn't always fit onto the screen, causing the leftmost character of each line of text to be cut off,

inda like this.
retty annoying, huh?

Other than that, there weren't any technical problems. Good luck with the next parts; if you can't draw with a mouse, maybe for your next project you could try customizing some sprites or something. The more effort and creativity you put into a flash, the less crap us jerks will give you.

Ongirl 16'th MIX

"Wow"

submission: Ongirl 16'th MIX
date: February 1, 2005

The Dancing Onigiri series has introduced me to several wonderful artists whose music I would never have heard otherwise, for which I am greatful. This entry in particular is awesome; whoever/whatever Phantasma is, he/she/they is/are brilliant.

With that said, why are you calling this the 16th Mix when your own site says it is the 19th Mix? Why do you refer to the series as Onigirl when the original Japanese name that shows up in every single title screen is Dancing Onigiri, and why the multi-week delay between these flashes showing up on the Japanese site and their arrival on Newgrounds? This gets weirder when one considers that this series is almost a year old but only showed up on Newgrounds in October or so. Seeing the Dando series (which I can't find on the original website anywhere) and the broken entries (but why would they be broken at all?), I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, but what are you? Are you Iso? Are you some random English-speaking kid who the people that make these flashes contacted to upload their flashes for them? If that's so, then why couldn't they just do it themselves? You don't seem to do anything other than upload the flashes, and Xiao Xiao shows that they could handle it without being native English speakers no problems. Or are you a collective account used by several people, like I suspect the Star Syndicate of being?

Or, are you some random kid who found these flashes and decided that they were cool enough to download?

If my accusation is false, then I apologize for offending you. I enjoy Dancing Onigiri and bothering you is the last thing I want to do. It is possible that you are real, both for the reasons I cited earlier and because I have seen links on Japanese sites that lead to the Newgrounds entries instead of the original Japanese site. But there's something weird about your account that I can't place. Sorry again, but I just had to get these questions off of my chest.

Author's Response:

Wow lots of questions Yes im some random "kid" but i work with the onigirl team who makes these we wanted them to get out so they told me to go to Newgrounds and upload the stuff when it comes out and the dando series was only like beta sort of for a contest we might have more i didint really get anything else but im a kid in america and the guys in japan i met at a summer camp for design and stuff so we are long distance friends :\ hope that solves your questions and about my account..i dont know lol

submission: Yu-Gi-Oh 12

This was great; I had wondered what happened to the series, but better late than never as they say. For some reason, Pegasus's cheery "Thank you!" after Sir Ian's rambling explanation made me laugh, and you automatically win 100 awesome points for using Around the World, one of the most bestest songs ever. You managed to make no sense without getting boring, and you also avoided using a live-action segment; good stuff.

I salute you, good sirs!

It was creative and surprising, I'll give you that. I don't know about making fun of something that so many people get upset over (I'm somewhat detached from it myself since no one I know was there), but it seems to have been done for shock value instead of out of malice, so... well, actually, that doesn't make a difference. I know I SHOULD be sickened by this, but I'm too busy listening to the awesome music to care much. "Chick Techno"... didn't see that coming.

Thank you for looping the music, and a more general thanks for the ability to minimize windows. That pic just ain't right.
